Electric Scooter Sharing Coming To Hoboken

Hoboken will become the first community in the state to try out a sharing program for electric scooters, Mayor Ravi S. Bhall said Thursday.

The scooter share program will be similar to bicycle shares now seen in cities across the country. The Hoboken initiative will be launched on a six-month trial basis next month in partnership with Lime-S and P3GM.

The former's scooters are dockless while the latter company's OjO scooters will dock at JerseyShare bike stations. Scooter riders will use designated bike lanes.

Bhall touted the convenience of the devices and the fact that they can help reduce carbon emissions.

“I am thrilled Hoboken is leading the way for the rest of the state to implement an additional mode of green transportation,” Bhalla said in a statement.

“Electric scooters will help residents easily travel around our city, reduce congestion on our roadways, and improve access to transit stations and business districts"
